Becoming visible
As many of you who have read my eBook now know, this was a big one for me.
I learned as a small child to hide my emotions from everyone. This was my way of surviving my family environment. Whether you are aware of this or not, everyone learns different ways of adapting to their home environments so that you are loved, cared for and accepted by your family. This means that you are limiting yourself. Limited in ways to express and, over time, limiting your awareness of your emotions and your needs and desires (your connection to your heart). Denial creeps in eventually – you are often no longer connected to what you feel about certain things. You respond to life with your mind and not your heart. You respond according to what is happening outside of you, so much so that intuition is difficult to access when important decisions arise at work or at home.
For me and for many other people, this way of living can impact your physical, emotional and financial health.
I became crippled as a child with Rheumatoid Arthritis. Ashamed of how my body looked, I hid my hands and feet for many years. Hiding my emotions and my body seeped into my work and personal life such that I was not able to live life on my own terms.
I worked hard for a long time to allow myself to be fully visible without shame. I unfurled my wings so that I could share with others the wisdom I had gained on my journey.
When you learn to unfold your wings, you too may find that you want to do something totally different. You may want to speak in front of groups of people or create your own podcast where you interview people who share your passion, experience and wisdom so that your reach and impact is global. You may wish to write a book and design an online course based on your book.
When you learn how to come out of the shadows, you can create whatever your heart desires!
Much love,
Elissa
